I’ve always loved art and design. My grandma would color with me daily and after I won my first coloring contest in kindergarten, my fate was sealed. The years that followed consisted of drawing and painting, the way too intense scrapbooking phase, and also editing my high school year book. Editing software and digital design was becoming more popular so I focused on graphic design in college. Being a small town girl from Missouri my eyes were opened to a whole new world. I worked with agencies and also did a lot of freelance print projects. To see my work and design brought to life and the impact it made gave me the inspiration to pursue my career in design.

College was fun but the reality of job prospects set in before graduation. I took a risk and took an internship with a tech startup company. I didn’t own a smartphone at the time but using my design principles and background I taught myself how to design mobile applications and dig into the layer of user experience to study how users actually interacted with my designs. This opportunity molded me into the designer I am today. I started as one of four employees and grew to lead a team of designers for the company. User experience and the interaction with front-end design became my new love of design. It could be applied to everything and how we interact with items in our everyday lives. The startup world was face paced and I quickly expanded my portfolio to websites and internal marketing and branding, I wanted to solution the best designs possible for our wide variety of costumers.

The main portion of my career has been in the government contracting space. I’ve supported multiple contracting teams for the Department of Defense, Army Human Resource Command (HRC) in Fort Knox, Kentucky. I’ve been a senior technical member of multiple system rewrites to help modernize legacy enterprise apps used for Army personnel and promotions. My professional role has grown and progressed into more full project support and implementation. My work has been very focused in learning detailed requirements and functionality from complex older systems and implementing new solutions. I really enjoy being involved with the wholistic approach of the project and not just intermittent pieces.

Most days are spent behind a computer but my passions lie outside. I love gardening and landscaping and attempt to bring the green thumb inside with multiple house plants.
Other project obsessions include designing interior spaces. I love working with wallpaper and other unique pieces to layout and update spaces that need a little love.
I also love volleyball and have recently gotten back into playing sand volleyball. I played collegiate volleyball at Spring Hill College and was a Club and High School coach in Louisville for 6 years after graduating.
Open to continue my professional career and continue to create more optimized solutions for the future.
